Semin was born in Seoul, Korea. He was raised in China and Vietnam, and later returned to Korea to attend Yonsei University. He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Yonsei University in 2025. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemistry as a member of the Lee group. His research focuses on developing asymmetric catalysis with the use of chiral cyclopropenimine-based organocatalysts.
Outside of research, he enjoys exploring music and its history.
