Ilwoo was born in Jeju Island, South Korea. He received his B.S. degree from Yonsei University, Mirae. He then earned his M.S. degree in the Department of Pharmacy at Seoul National University under the supervision of Professor Hyeungguen Park, where he conducted research on phase-transfer catalysis (PTC). Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in the Lee Group. His research interests lie in the development of regiodivergent and stereoselective reactions, with a particular focus on dual catalysis strategies.
Outside the lab, he’s known for his love of snacks, chicken, and hamburgers. He’s also often heard saying, “Give me that.”
