Dr. Byungjun Kim

김병준

Nickname: Potato

Byungjun is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in asymmetric catalysis. In 2024, he received his Ph.D. in Prof. Sarah Yunmi Lee’s group, where he worked on the development of stereodivergent catalytic systems for the precise control of complex stereochemistry.

Born and raised in Wonju, a city in Gangwon-do—the least populous province in South Korea—he spent most of his life there, including his military service, before joining Prof. Lee’s lab in Seoul. He’s also known for a peculiar habit: when greeting lab members with a handshake, he somehow ends up throwing “scissors” instead. It’s unintentional—but somehow, he always wins.
